It publishes academic papers written in English that present theoretical significance while providing descriptive generalizations based on rigorous theoretical argumentation, replicable experimental design and/or comprehensive examination of collected and annotated linguistic data through field work or corpora. Lingua Sinica (i) provides a platform for exchanging ideas among leading researchers in Chinese linguistics, especially between those inside and outside China, and across different sub-fields and theories of language sciences, (ii) provides a venue for researchers in China to publish in English in order to make their research results accessible internationally, and (iii) aims to maximize the visibility of Chinese linguistics by making its research available and relevant not only to linguists working on other languages around the world, but also to the greater linguistics field and relevant interdisciplinary research communities.  As the first Open Access international journal of Chinese linguistics, Lingua Sinica also aims to achieve the widest possible visibility and optimal international impact of its published research and to help authors meet the growing demand by funding agencies to publish in Open Access journals.
